I am enjoying your Events Calendar, however I have noticed a major problem with it. It is creating a massive amount of 404s that I am seeing in Google Webmaster Tools.

E.g.

I tried entering the some suggested code (https://gist.github.com/2763669 and https://gist.github.com/1964698) by Joey and Paul, however no success. That caused an issue as the function was already declared in the theme, so I just removed the part that declared the function and left the code that calls the function, but then that results in this error:

I am using The Events Calendar Pro at https://www.dcdrinkup.com and also experiencing this issue with the WordPress Tag Cloud widget. It appears that The Events Calendar is rewriting the URL’s in the tag cloud widget to use the “events” slug. Please provide an update on this as it appears that mtantow has been working this one for a while…

Hey guys. Just wanted to follow-up on this, per my email exchange with Martin and now that we’ve looked into this further. This did appear to be an issue specific to tag clouds, which could most effectively be resolved by removing tag clouds from the site if you’re concerned about the search implications.

However, that being said, we have fixed this in the code for 2.0.9 (which is coming out over the next month or so). The devs finally figured out what was up and have fixed the issue so it is awaiting deployment in that latest code.

Thanks again for your patience so far guys. Please know relief is in sight, and feel free to reach out if you need anything more in the interim.

I have the same issue. I would love to use your plugin, but my site’s main navigation is built around tags so this issue is a dealbreaker for me.

Is it possible to provide us with a patch or will 2.0.9 come out before 19 september? (that’s when my site will go live…)

I’ve downloaded version 2.0.9 from svn. You fixed it allright!
Great! Still hope to install the stable version soon, though…

The tag cloud issue was indeed fixed in 2.0.9 – thank you for confirming as much! Since it appears that the core issue here is resolved, I’m going to mark this thread accordingly…but please let me know if anyone disagrees or has further issues here.

If not, thanks to all for your support and patience so far. If you are enjoying 2.0.9 we sure would appreciate a vote of “Works” here on the dot-org repo ??
