• Hi All,

The decision was made to go premium with The Events Calendar and it is now for sale here:

    https://codecanyon.net/item/events-calendar-pro-wordpress-premium-plugin/109301

This premium version has undergone big code organization changes and WP 3.0 integration changes. The fact that it costs money allows for better support and feature development as well.

Less support will be available for this free version as resources get shifted to the premium plugin. I will be stopping by this forum in between other projects, but I highly suggest switching over to the new plugin.

    Justin

  • Hi Justin,

Are sub-categories supported and working in the premium version?

    Thanks,
    Darren

    Yes Dcase they are.

Will all the custom styles that I spent hours creating for the free version work with the new plugin or is all that work going to have to be redone?

    Thanks

I’ve been developing a website for several weeks and found TEC very interesting, but with lots of quirky flaws and needed tweaks, which have taken hours, I’ve felt like a beta tester. I was planning on donating next week when I go live, but now it looks like I either immediately go pro or find something else. What would make the pro version less quirky regarding the need for tweaks and constant updates?

@tovlakas: it should port with a little work. We did make a few changes to the template tags so it wont be a perfect upgrade if you use custom themes, but it shouldn’t be bad.

@randytsa – I hear you man. Beta implies a plan for long term stability. In our case, the is a work in progress. As for upgrading to pro, it depends what you are looking for? It is stable with 3.0, which the open source one still needs some patches.

Thanks, Shane. So is my best bet to completely uninstall the current version and then install the premium version? I did upgrade to WP 3.0, so I probably have to go premium now.

if you are on the latest version of the open source, you can upgrade without completely removing the old one. We put an upgrade script in with premium for the latest open source users (but it does not upgrade older versions).

Upgraded to pro and it seems easier for a client to add events but it also appears the new pro version does not put up coming events into the recent posts on the main page/index like the free version did. HUM how do I get them in there again?
Also do you think I can choose which events to “feature on homepage” via creating a featured category?
    (using WP 3.0)
    Thanks
