Suddenly, for no apparent reason the events calendar has stopped working on one of our sites. It has always been slow on the backend, but now it just hangs and often causes an error establishing database connection on the front-end of the site. I’ve repaired the database already and in an attempt to fix the problem, I just updated to version 2.0.6 of The Events Calendar and 2.0.5 of Pro, and I noticed on activation of Pro I got a warning “Your version of Events Calendar Pro requires version 2.0.5 or higher of The Events Calendar (you are currently running 2.0.6).” But the problem persists. I can access Event Categories, Venues, and Organizers, but not Add Event or Events. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

  • Hi guys,

I have no idea what this could be but I’ve created a ticket for one of our other devs to take a look. I’ll follow up here as soon as I get a response. Thanks for your patience.

I was having this error as well, in addition to not being able to edit my pages (the visual editor was filled with HTML in white text). Both of these symptoms showed up at the same time.

    I am using WP 3.2.1
    The Genesis News Theme

Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Admin_Bar::add_group() in /home/psjrftp/psjrpatriotsfootball.com/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php on line 2556

Hey there Liz. is there a reason you haven’t updated to WP 3.4.1? The Events Calendar isn’t meant to run with anything earlier than 3.3, so if you’re on 3.2.1 that could definitely have an impact. Are you in a position where you can update to the latest WP to see if this issue persists?

i was having this error as well:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Admin_Bar::add_group() in /home/psjrftp/psjrpatriotsfootball.com/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php on line 2556

I commented out the code suggested relating to WP_Admin_Bar

now i’m getting this error at the bottom of the page in the event pages:

Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘TribeEvents::addToolbarItems’ was given in /home/www/skateboardni.org/wordpress/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 405

i have tried commenting out various bit of code, but it either breaks the plugin or does the same, can someone give me a pointer of what to do to resolve it or do i jus tlive with it.

    using wordpress 3.2.1(hosted free can’t change)& T.E.C 2.0.8

    thanks

Hi pope_acute – unfortunately I can’t add much here, but if you look at the plugin page you will see WordPress 3.3 is the current minimum requirement.

Cheers for reply anyways, figure i will just live with it. Or find a new host using 3.3

Sorry to hear we couldn’t offer up more here, pope_acute. If you ever are able to make the jump to 3.3 you will definitely enjoy the improved experience of your overall WordPress site, not just the plugin.

I realize we didn’t reach an official resolution here, but it seems this thread is as close to RESOLVED as it can be. I’m going to mark it as such unless anyone disagrees.
