    Congratulations for this great plugin.
    I have what seems to be a tiny problem that creates a giant mess.
    When I created a first event, your program created a category “Events”. Then, and because I asked for it, this category appears in the catnav menu of my headers. No problemo. Everything works just fine.
    Now, if ever I rename the category via wordpress admin page, in order to have a different menu title for your calendar (like “Calendar” instead of “Events”), the whole blog is badly affected, none of the menu works anymore, no more home page, nothing, only one page appears: your calendar of events, the grid. Well, although I like it very much, it’s a bit of a problem…
    The only way to get the control back is to deactivate the plugin and then reactivate it. But it will work only if its category’s name is “Events”.
    Can you guys help me? Thanks A LOT!!!

    Yup – renaming the events cat will completely blow things up (as you noticed). For the time being, the entire plugin depends on the cat name “Events” to function. We have an issue in the roadmap to evently allow any cat name, but not any time soon. You might be able to resolve this in 1.6 by using subcats instead. Also, WP 3.0 has a menu tool built into it which should allow you to choose a cat and still give the menu item a custom name.

    I dont want to start another topic so..
    1. ..is there a way to recode the plugin to use different category name? Where should I start/what to look for?

    2 ..how complicated it would be to set a link/page that would show the grid view? I really need to have it “hooked” to a single page.

    3 ..I need to translate the map as well can You add translation strings to language files?

    Thanks.

    To tell you the truth I love this plugin but it doesn’t work on my sites if I have to use the word “Event”. There are people who are translating into other languages like Russian, Spanish, Portuguese etc & I also would love to change that “Event” to something else even if I have to go through the code to do it.

    1) sure, but it affects enough things (such as rewrite rules) that it isn’t a tiny change or we would have already done it! =) if you do make the update, send us a patch.

    2) it would require a complete change on our approach. Instead of co-opting the loop, we would build a custom query to display the result though a shortcode. We have discussed this in depth and decided for the short term to leave it as we do it now.

    3) the map is from google. I am not sure but replacing the generic public map with one from the google api might do it, but we haven’t gotten to that yet.

    @lokai,

    For the short term that is something we are leaving in. I had hoped to get it changed for 1.6, but it probably wont make it in. Most likely in 1.6.1.
