  • Hi Alpine,
Can you tell me how you resolved this? I’m having the same problem, I think.
    TIA
    Bill

Did anyone figure this out? I am having the same problems.

@rodeoqueens What’s the problem you’re having. I’ll see if I can help. I had to do quite a few modifications to get this functional for me – eliminate some things I could live without, etc, but did manage to get a functional version working to my needs at this website

I’ll integrate the remaining features as I figure them out. For me at least, this plugin has been anything but plug-and-play!

@tranformer617 I have it installed, but can’t figure out how to get the calendar view on a page or how to edit it by just adding dates, without adding a post.
I will appreciate any help you can give me!

    Sue

    Hi Sue,
This is not the authoritative view on how to do this; it’s just how I was able to accomplish what I wanted to do! (And I’m not a php whiz, so had a hard time understanding some of the solutions presented in the forum).

First off, the calender gets the information it needs to fill in the grid from a post; so you do need to create a post. You also have to create a category called Events and assign that to the post. Also, in the Settings > The Event Calender (the TEC setup page, be sure your default view is set to Calendar and pretty urls are on (I had a ton of error messages navigating around the calendar before I realized that was the issue).

If you’ve gotten that far, let me know where you’re at now and I’ll continue. Let me know what theme you’re using, too (I’m using Thesis and had many, many issues integrating it into that theme and I’m guessing from reading the support forum that some themes are easier to work with than others.

I’m in the same predicament as well. All I want is to have the calendar display on a specific page. I tried the 301 redirect to have the navigation tab redirect to the specific category, but that didn’t work.
And I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add the category to my primary navigation. Every tip or “tutorial” I’ve seen has been lacking in necessary detail for me.
Any help would be met with extreme gratitude.

    Hi All
I think I may be able to help.
I wanted to show this page as a page for my members, so this is what I did. The URL to view the calendar on the front-end is https://www.yoursite.com/category/events/ (so mine is https://www.hukanuiyouth.com/category/events/). So what I did was I installed the plugin Page Links To, and followed the instructions there. So on my website I have the link up the top “What’s Happening”, which re-directs to the calendar.
Hope this helps you all. Let me know if you need more info.

Sorry to burst your bubble, dpDesignz. But on your page when I use the links next to the month/year drop down menu (next or previous month) I get a 404. Also when I click on the List View button, same thing (404).

I couldn’t figure out a fix for this, which is why I’ve removed them from the php files (at least ’til I find a fix).

    Hey @transformer617

Thanks for that. I found out what the problem is. I turned off pretty links under the options and it all works fine now.

You’re welcome! I discovered that too — after futzing around with code for hours. ??

I hate to be a moron, but when you say that you “turned off pretty links under the options”, what options, and what are you specifically turning off? Do you mean you’re going into permalink settings under general settings and setting them to default? I’m looking at the calendar options and I’m not seeing anything there either.

I used to the Page Links To plug in, and what I find is that the calendar isn’t being smart about grabbing whatever the current year/month is and displaying events. So we have january events, but they don’t show up until you go to the month selector, switch to february, then switch back to january.

You don’t have to be a moron to have a tough time figuring out this plugin! Under settings click on The Events Calendar, which takes you to the Events Calendar settings page. The last item before save is the pretty links on or off option. Choose one and save. Then go back into your premalinks and – don’t change anything – just hit Save Changes.

I don’t have a solution to your second problem, I’m afraid. I noticed that when you click from the single event back to the calendar (back to events link) it returns you to a different url (/month rather than /2011-01) but I don’t know how to fix that. Sorry. Good looking site, though.
