hey all, I installed the Events Calendar plug in. Have added a test event and all was going well until I view the actual event. The event displays as I would expect except for the fact that after the event, all my Pages for the site are listed in a long list, then Archives, then Categories. Actually the Search Field appears first.
I am using ThemeForest Config theme (https://themeforest.net/item/config-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/1493982)

    Here is a screenshot

I see from the Template settings you can add HTML before and after, but can’t find any examples.

*I have no idea about HTML or CSS or PHP lol. I’m jack of all trades master of none and just copy from examples. Am happy doing techy stuff if you speak plain English. If I can’t resolve the problem in the template settings, I may scrap the idea of using this plugin. However if it’s a simple fix, more than happy to buy the Pro version.

Hope you can help, and sorry that I’m just a noob.

  • You might want to take this up with the source you purchased the theme from. Just looking at the demo I get 14 javascript errors. It’s unlikely that any plugin that uses jQuery or javascript will work with your theme.

Thanks for the assist on this one, Chris. That would definitely be a good starting point – heathcliffe, if you do so and the theme dev comes back saying we need to modify something in our code…do let me know, and we’ll try our best. But as Chris notes this does look like something more heavily influenced by the theme…

Thanks guys, yes I have gone back to the theme developer. They are very helpful as I’m just a novice. Maybe they will come up with a solution.
I have tried the Events Calender on another site I built at the weekend using a standard WP free theme and it seems to work ok, except for the fact the positioning is not quite right but I see that it is the theme and not the plugin, though I have no idea how to fix it lol.

If you could advise on that one, well, that would be brilliant !

    Thanks for the support,
I’m loving WordPress, and what a great community of people out there offering their time to support one another.

Thanks for the follow-up, healthcliffe. We appreciate you taking the time to respond on here; as you noted, everyone contributing makes for a far better experience for everyone.

Happy to help out best I can on this one. Right off the bat, what happens if you change to the different templating options under Events –> Settings? The plugin comes with a few of its own, and your theme probably does too. Try each of the options there, then view on the frontend to see if it meets your approval, and let me know if from there you still aren’t any closer to where you want to be.

Thanks roblagatta, I never thought of changing the theme as selecting the “Page Theme” didn’t work on the Themeforest site. However I have selected the “Page Theme” for the WYRF site and it fits much better, though the map and hover popup are truncated on the right hand side.

You mention different templates but on both installs of this I only see the Default Page Template and Default Events Template, nothing else.

Are there any examples of how i would use the HTML before and after boxes?

As I say, I’m no developer but when shown examples I can usually muck around and get something working. My life story lol.

Awesome to hear you made some progress on the theme issue. The template dropdown menu is generally going to change from theme to theme; while the plugin will always display the two you mentioned, a lot of themes generally provide a few of their own to give users flexibility. This will not always be the case though and doesn’t sound like it is how your theme behaves.

It looks like you got the hover pop-up and the map alignment issues sorted, correct? I just checked out your upcoming events there and both those features look good, but let me know if I’m wrong.

The before/after HTML fields are pretty flexible, but most of the situations I’ve seen folks using it in is if they want to give an extra message (like, “Don’t forget to check out our contests page!”) above or after the calendar. They’d just throw it in their with an H3 tag or something similar, link up the words “our contests page” using basic HTML and they’d be set. While I don’t have any specific documentation on this, if you had questions or an end goal in mind…let me know and I’ll try to help you out.
