Hi there, I hope this will make sense and I have posted this in the right section.

I’m doing this for a client website I’m working on and I’ve just been reading this:

Avoid using default image file names like, “DSC0019.jpg” as it does not give much information about the image. Use descriptive filenames with keywords separated by “-” (hyphen). For example, “steve-jobs-on-the-launching-of-iphone.jpg”.

    (source)

Is there an automatic way to rename image file name? Upon learning this I’m trying to improve this site image optimization for SEO purposes. So Is there a plugins that can do this?

I really appreciate your help and please get back to me asap.

    Thank you ??

  • I’m not sure the filename matters awfully much for SEO. I’d be more concerned about alt tags.

This plugin automatically generates them for you:

However, for the best outcome in terms of SEO and accessibility the alt text should accurately describe the image. The best way to do that is manually, a plugin can’t do that for you.*

*Yet. Plugin idea: integrate with CaptionBot.

Hi there, thank you for getting back to me. True but I’m trying to make sure everything is right and is properly SEO organize in term of image optimization. I’ve been focusing heavily on the alt tag but I read in that article and on a few other articles that the image file name is also important.
I will give that plugin a go.

    Kind Regards
