[Plugin: TAC (Theme Authenticity Checker)] It failed me once

  • I check every theme with TAC but it failed me on this occasion.

    I got a theme with some hidden codes in the footer.php of one of my websites which TAC did not detect. While the code was relatively harmless, TAC never reported them in as outbound links in the theme.

    I thought i should let you know if it helps in future development in anyways.

  • It is a perpetual game of one-upmanship!

    The bad guys out there try to circumvent the checker algorithm by obfuscating the code in some hidden recesses of the code jungle.

    The price of getting anything free is eternal vigilance.

    There are enough good themes in WP repository which are sterilized of such mischief. Some of them are far better than the so-called premium themes themselves!

    Use them and have a good night’s sleep.
