Plugin suggestion – archives/display nested monthly

  • I would like to list articles on my category and date archives in a format that’s nested by month.

    That is, the same kind of bulleted list output generated by the Clean Archives plugin (https://www.sporadicnonsense.com/2005/04/28/clean-archives-plug-in/) on a static page (https://www.robertandrews.co.uk/archive/), ie…

    I also want to be able to include output like this on other pages, like my homepage. No month header is required on monthly archives, obviously.

    I have tried to accomplish this for my homepage with the following code inside index.php, but am now hampered because this kind of output needs to respect pagination and also must display only a specified number of latest posts etc… https://pastebin.ca/198318

    Can anyone accomplish this please or give tips on how I’d go about doing it? I’ve never written a plugin per se before.

  • I took would love to see this feature as standard for WP. To have the ability to generate archives independently from “global archives” and then display data output wherever you want ie: category template; single page, sidebar -whatever – but specify what categories you want the archives to display, and how you want it to display would make WP King Of The Hill.
