I posted this in another related topic, but it looks like because that one is marked resolved you aren’t going to respond to it.

The first thing I noticed, was my host SHUT DOWN my site, because my usage spiked to *40 cores* due to the stealth option creating massive URLS/

I had to disable the CAOS Super Stealth Upgrade plugin today, my host deactivated my site and this is what they sent.

We see that you site detroitsportsnation.com is causing our server to spike too much. Would you be kind and not use URLs like this with your site:

    /wp-content/cache/caos//super-stealth.php?v=1&_v=j83&aip=1&a=1572196667&t=event&_s=2&dl=https%3A%2F%2Fdetroitsportsnation.com%2Fterry-foster-explains-detroit-cannot-support-sports-radio%2Fapowell%2Fgeneral%2F07%2F08%2F2020%2F228740%2F&dr=http%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com&ul=en&de=UTF-8&dt=Terry%20Foster%20explains%20why%20Detroit%20cannot%20support%20all%20sports%20radio%20%7C%20Detroit%20Sports%20Nation&sd=32-bit&sr=414×896&vp=414×786&je=0&ec=adjusted%20bounce%20rate&ea=30%20seconds&_utma=43545392.53697183.1565048550.1594165213.1594223419.440&_utmz=43545392.1594223419.440.433.utmcsr%3Dm.facebook.com%7Cutmccn%3D(referral)%7Cutmcmd%3Dreferral%7Cutmcct%3D%2F&_utmht=1594223450436&_u=SCCCAUIh~&jid=&gjid=&cid=53697183.1565048550&tid=UA-1245990-5&_gid=933141745.1594165214&z=1154940436

Then, they deactivated it temporarily because it spiked up to 40 cores used without a spike in traffic.

Since this happened (we watch our analytics very closely and this was since this issue spiked), I have had 1-20 users showing on my site in Google Analytics live traffic. For contrast, my site usually has 100-400 users on at any one time.

I continued to monitor, but then, I noticed, even after updating Analytics.js and clearing ALL cache, I was recording zero pageviews or active users.

Update, I have completely deactivated the plugin (not just the stealth mode). When active, ALL of my traffic disappears from GA real-time view, and visitor tracking has stopped. I believe the latest update may have broken something, which is a shame because I have used this plugin for a long time.

So not just the performance hit (which is mind-boggling to me), but the plugin flat does not work anymore.

I know you (plugin author) have a very pregnant wife, so this isn’t urgent for me, I can track with the code placed manually, but in reviewing the last few posts on this forum, it seems like there is a common thread with the latest update causing issues.

I would like to use this plugin, I have been a fan of it for quite some time and purchased the additional plugin for Stealth mode – but I can not even enable it, as it breaks all tracking.

    Any ideas???

    Hi d8tabyte,

My wife gave birth last Thursday evening. So it’s been a very hectic few days.

I’ll look into it this week. Sorry for not responding earlier.

Congrats and no worries my friend, enjoy the moment – as I said, I am not currently using this plugin.

    Hi again,

    I’m back ??

Are the long URLs really the issue? Or was it the double //’s in the URL? Because that issue has been fixed.

Why would you not be allowed to use long URLs? That’s entirely how Google Analytics works. ?? So, that’s a bit strange to me.

    Hi again,

Just so you know: to get around the long URLs you could use the Minimal Analytics snippet type. This creates a POST call, i.e. not adding all the parameters to the URL.

It doesn’t support all Google Analytics features, though. So, which features of Analytics are you using? If it’s just pageviews, locations and events, then you’re good.
