[Plugin: Stop Spammer Registrations Plugin] feature suggestion

I added the add, but I didn’t use a hidden api, just a link to the report form.

I like the idea of the multisite install. I can do this. The MU Global Settings plugin I just created can do it in a general way, but the plugin should implement this specifically for the network installation.

well, would be a lot nicer with an API, but well, that is life ??

so the current version has multi-site support? Or are you still working on that?

Btw. pay attention because wp 3.1 will have a different location for hte network menus that are multisite related!

I have 3.1 on the BlogsEye.com site, but not MU. My Gthread.com site uses the “banned” autoblogging plugins that I wrote under MU and it is using the MU-Global-Options-Plugin. I may update Gthread to bleeding edge nightlies when 3.1 is more stable. My blog has been down for several days in the last week. The nightlies are full of bugs.

Current develoment version is adding a whitelist and testing the WP_Http class to check the db. I have not got the MU version working, but it will not be complicated – just on or off on the options page.

no rush, please update this thread when its ready for testing ??

just wanted to add the importance of hiding any menus from users, only the super admin should see everything. he should be the only one able to report anything to the DB too.

any news on this?

I am working on the next release. The MU issues are not being addressed in the next release, but will be in the one after that. There are issues with custom form processing that I am addressing and I am trying to extend the way emails and IPs are checked.

There will be a release soon that is MU aware and does not show menus to anyone except the super admin.

I have written the WPMU code and it is running on my MU site. It is catching spammers. Only Blog #1 sees the interface. I have made some many changes that I am waiting a week or so more before I release it. It should be out before May 1.

they seem to have quite similar features and I switched to using theirs while you were uodating yours…

will turn the other one off to test yours, I don’t think they should run in parallel…

the screen options link doesn’t seem to work anymore but starts working if I deactivate your plugin.

My plugin just stops spammers who try to register or leave comments. It does not stop spammers from seeing the site. The AVH First Defense Against Spam is good if you want to keep spammers from even seeing your site.
They both block spammers, but do it in different ways.

cool, just wanted to make sure I can run both at the same time.

basically they complement each other: if a spammer makes it through AVH there is still a chance your plugin will catch him as your plugin checks more spam DBs.
