Plugin still removes featured image from latest posts widget

    Hi,
    Firstly, thanks for the plugin! It does exactly what I was looking for.
    However I came across an issue I need help with.

    My website has a sidebar in each post with a “recent posts widget” showing 3 of my most recent posts. This often leads to the post I am currently viewing to be listed under “recent posts,” even though I am already on that post. (Not ideal in itself, really.)

    Problem: If I open a post which has the featured image hidden using the plugin, the featured image for this post is also removed from the recent posts widget in the sidebar.

    I read this EXACT problem in an earlier thread, saying that the problem was addressed in an update. However, I am still experiencing the problem, and therefore, started a new thread.

    Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry to hear, that you’ve got some issues with the plugin. I’ve just made a few tests with the ‘Latest Posts’ plugin, as well as with the built-in ‘Latest Posts’ widget but could not reproduce your issue. Could you please provide me the following information, so I can investigate your issue?

    – Version of WordPress
    – Theme name and version
    – Plugins (all activated ones, incl. their versions)

    The test setup I used:
    – WordPress 5.9.3 (clean install without config changes)
    – Theme Twenty Twenty-One 1.5
    – Latest Posts 1.4.1
    – Conditionally display featured image on singular pages and posts 2.12.0
    – No other plugins

    Thanks a lot. I just wanted to test the plugin with your theme and plugins, when I noticed, that the most crucial ones, Allston and WPBakery Page Builder, are non-free. I’m sure, you’ll understand that I won’t buy any software just to test the compatibility with my free plugin…

    I don’t know how widgets work with Allston and WPBakery, but if you have the possibility, I’d suggest you just use the built-in WordPress Latest Posts block widget and enable the thumbnails. As of what I’ve seen so far, this seems to work pretty well with this plugin.

    As I won’t investigate any further with non-free software, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to reopen the issue, if you can reproduce the problem with any free themes and/or plugins.
