[Plugin: Special Recent Posts] Upgrade caused fault

    I upgraded to latest SRP. Widget then removed itself from all widgetized areas. Then I added back and get these errors on page:

    /var/www/vhosts/earthingfaith.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/special-recent-posts/cache/…
    Problem detected on file: /var/www/vhosts/…

    I checked that the /cache/ folder is writable – and we also have
    PHP version 5+ and GD libraries installed and enabled on your server – but still same error message.

    I have since reinstalled version 1.9.4 and it works fine.

    Any ideas what is happening? The site is earthingfaith.org

    Version 1.9.5 might cause some problem because it has the entire core rewritten (ported from the PRO version). Anyway, that message is relevant to undestand that there is a post with an image that can’t be processed properly. For example, please check the images extension of your posts, and try to remove and reupload an image from the latest post.

    Thanks for getting back to me Luca.

    I have tried the update again. Again the widgets all disappear. When I re-add them I get messages where they are like:

    File not writeable: /var/www/vhosts/earthingfaith.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/special-recent-posts/cache/NTA1MG5vdGVzdEVGLXNxdWFyZS1mYXZpY29u.png
    Problem detected on file: /var/www/vhosts/earthingfaith.org/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/testEF-square-favicon.png

    In the plugin page of the dashboard I also get the message: Special Recent Posts FREE Edition Warning! The Cache folder is not writable. In order to use caching functionality you have to set the correct writing permissions on special-recent-posts/cache/ folder. E.G: 0755 or 0775

    I have checked and the write permissions for the cache folder are 0755.

    I’ve left it live with the error message for now so you can see.

    Any ideas?

    I should have said that I have also tried uploading a new image to the latest post to see if that helped. But it is that which is the error message as above.

    Matt, put the cache folder on 0777. It’s obviously a permission issue.
