[Plugin: Special Recent Posts] Excerpt not showing

If you’re using a specific excerpt for each post, then set the option “Select post content type” to “post excerpt”.

I am the same person as Sweetroxie 123. I had to re-register because the forum kept rejecting my password.

One reason could be that some other plugin is interfering with the SRP plugin. Please try to deactivate all of the other plugins and see what happens.

Here is what I just discovered. I changed the setting “Select post content type” from “post excerpt” to “post content.” And I set the # of characters to show and now I’m seeing the excerpt (https://lovingadog.com widgetized footer). So the wires are crossing somewhere. I have very few plugins at this point so I’d be surprised if there were interference going on. But who knows?

Well, myroxie, at this point it’s obvious for me that you haven’t set up a proper excerpt, but filled the post content only. Good for you anyway.

Oh yes. You are right. I assumed that an excerpt would be automatically made from the first so many characters or words, ets. I didn’t realize that you had to specifically create an excerpt for it to count as an excerpt–from the plugin’s point of view. In the case that I’ll be using it for, I’m drawing user-submitted posts for the content. And although I will provide a field on the form for users to write an excerpt, the odds are good that many will not do so. So perhaps this is the best way for me to use it anyway– drawing post content but delimiting the character length of it.
