• After I upgraded to plugin version 1.9.5, the plugin quit finding the images in the post to use for the thumbnails (it shows the default image). If I set “featured image”, it does find the image instead of showing the default. But, before, we didn’t have to set a featured image.

Each post only has 1 image. This has happened for posts I create after the upgrade as well as for the old posts.

Other than that I love the plugin.

    thanks!!

  • My problem is solved now, my host made the cache writeable.
Thank you for your help and sorry for being too lazy reading the installation notes.

Anyway, I now only have one question/problem left: my thumbnails are showing, but I want the post’s title and exerpt to be displayed UNDER the thumbnail, is that possible?

@esteban :the plugin cannot handle external images due to security settings.

@oscarvangend: You have to change the “display” property of the thumbnail container (srp-thumbnail-box) and the content container (srp-content-box) from “table-cell” to “block”.

This issue may very well be a hosting issue. I am in the process of moving one of my sites from GoDaddy to Host Gater since all of my sites are running noticeably slower since the GoDaddy blackout a couple weeks back. I chose to rebuild the site on the new host as opposed to transferring so I didn’t transfer an inherent problems. WordPress versions the same as is all plugins. Only difference is Gater had WP Super Cache pre-installed. On the GoDaddy site, all images come through as advertised, but not on the Gater one. I’ve thrown this issue for the moment to Gater support and now wait to hear what they say. Below are the links to the two sites
    https://mylittleguyadventures.com and https://gator1916.hostgator.com/~jerry101/

BTW I have tried two similar plugins for pulling posts to the static home page with the same results. This issue does disappear if I revert to the themes default blogging home page. Theme is a Cyberchimp one.

    Hi everyone!
    I have the same problem:
Everything worked just perfectly until I dated up to the latest version of Special Recent Posts 1.9.6. Now my thumbs don’t show up anymore. Only my default thumb is shown. I didn’t change anything else but the version of SRP. After the update the sidebar widgets were gone and after reestablishing them the thumbs didn’t work anymore.

I tried everything said above, but nothing changed.
If you want to take a look on my website: https://www.modefluesterin.de

I’m no IT pro and desperately need help!
    Thanks!

@Modelfluesterin Please check that your cache folder is writable, also set a featured image for some post and see if it works.

Thank you! I have done what you suggested. Result: Cache folder is writable (“777”). The featured image is shown.

But now my post contains the same image twice: a featured small thumb and a bigger image, which is included in the post.

In the former version the image integrated in the post automatically was added as a thumb to the recent posts list. How can I manage to restore this original function of SRP?

    Hi Luca,

in the meantime I reinstalled the older version of SRP on my blog again – from my last backup. Now everything seems to work well again – like it worked before the update. The disfunction clearly is related to the new version of SRP.

Now my recent posts look great again, thanks to your wonderful plugin, Luca!
And maybe one of the future updates will solve the problem for everyone… ??

    Happy Sunday!
