[Plugin: Special Recent Posts] After upgrade, images for thumbnails don't show

  • After I upgraded to plugin version 1.9.5, the plugin quit finding the images in the post to use for the thumbnails (it shows the default image). If I set “featured image”, it does find the image instead of showing the default. But, before, we didn’t have to set a featured image.

    Each post only has 1 image. This has happened for posts I create after the upgrade as well as for the old posts.

    Other than that I love the plugin.

    Thank you for asking Luca. No, I upgraded to the version you referenced and it still does not work.

    Error log says-
    Problem detected on post ID: 473 on file: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/~huntgro1/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/1_lamarexteriorb4-150×150.jpg

    The photo is there, the actual URL is
    https://66.147.244.138/~huntgro1/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/1_lamarexteriorb4-150×150.jpg

    This is again doing a post, uploading photo from hard drive, and NOT selecting it as a featured image.

    @lucydog I’m quite sure it all depend on the fact you’re hosting your website on a IP address and not on a domain (www.yourdomain.com). If you switch to a normal domain name, everything should work.

    @oscarvangend can you at least verify that posts with featured images are being displayed?

    Your widget is now showing on the front page of my website (on the bottom of the sidebar).

    It gives an error “File not writeable: …” and “No Thumb”. BTW, is there also an option to show the thumbnail above the titel and exerpt, instead of next to it?

    As explicitely specified in the installation instructions, you have to make the cache folder writable, in order for the plugin to properly write the cached images on disk.

    My issue is solved — I won’t mark as resolved since there is another thread within the thread.

    Just like you said when I went live with the regular (non numeric) domain it works great.

    I have the same problem as “oscarvangend” and looks in place what is disastrous …. The plugin is excellent, I think the problem lies in the external images .. I hope to have a solution
