[Plugin: SpeakUp! Email Petitions] Manually Confirm Signatures

Much to my surprise I managed to do it in the database (trust me, this is a very unlikely occurance.)

Still, it would be nice to be able to do it from the plug-in so may I leave this here as a feature suggestion?

Well, the point of having signatures confirmed is so that you can be sure the person who signed the petition is really who they say they are. Manually confirming the signatures defeats this purpose.

You can always use the “Re-send confirmations” button to send the confirmation mail again to all of your unconfirmed signers.

I enabled the confirmations to cut down on potential spam signatures and I know most of the folk who’ve signed so far.

I installed the SMPT plug in which I think has done the job. Most of the unconfirmed signatures were on Hotmail addresses.

I am in the same situation.People are not confirming. I can see that these are valid signers (I know them), and have reached out to them to see why they haven’t signed. My guess is that they used a e-mail address that they don’t frequently use and haven’t checked (despite my on-screen instructions in the “success message”

DaveP. Can you tell me the database change that you made to manually confirm. I tried just setting the confirm field from 0 to 1 but that didn’t do it.

What I discovered was that a lot of people weren’t confirming just because they mis-typed their email address and the confirm email wasn’t getting to them. So the point of fixing it in the database is just so when you resend the confirmation message it doesn’t generate another bounce message. So the issue seems to be secondary to a lack of a field for the signer to re-type their email address and give an error message if the two fields don’t match.

I’m working on adding the double email entry thing for the next release.
