• Hi –
LOVE the Social Media Widget. Super slick and easy to use.

Any chance that Google+ functionality + updated matching button graphics will be incorporated soon?

(I can send invites if needed for dev purposes)

Alternatively, any tips on how to use the custom fields to set it up myself?

    Cool.
Loved the plugin and am very grateful for it.

Love the plugin but still have a question…is there any way to centrally put in the data for different media, or do i have to repaste them each time i use the widget (ie: on every page?)

also, forgive the noob, but i can’t find a simple place to find my google +1 URL to input into the plugin

The advice above about the two urls and the php header doesn’t apply to the plugin, right?

    thanks so much

So, i just moved my wordpress site to its real url and all of my widgets got deprogrammed. This means i’d have to re-input 6 urls manually on all 43 pages? There must be a way to have one setting for all instances where the widget is used. Am i missing it? Please help.

    Otherwise, the plugin is fab.

    thanks

Swazzi… I’m really not sure what you’re asking… you put your URLs in the widget control panel… once for each site. If you’re putting it on every page manually you’re doing something wrong.

Bryan, I appreciate the update and the Google +1 functionality. We’re using your widget for a site, but I’m still unclear as Swazzi is in two posts above this one. Where do you find the actual URL that we need to put into the +1 url field in your updated widget?

Is it just the site’s home url? Or is it something Google has to generate? In that case, it would have to be a personal profile as they don’t seem to be allowing +1 profiles for businesses yet.

    Or am I missing something?

    Can you advise?
    Thanks.

Woops. Sorry I spelled your name wrong. people do that to me all the time and I hate it. ??

    To clarify my question:

As I understand it, Google +1 is different (currently) than FB etc in that it doesn’t support profiles for business “pages” yet. So you can easily add a “like us” style button which is connected by the USER’s Google profile (and it only allows you to use this if you do have a profile) and then registers a “like” tick on your site’s +1 counter. ( We’ve got this button currently in our blog section with individual posts here: https://www.johnswildwoodpizza.com/2010/10/best-pizza-in-erie-again/ )

But we’re using the “Social Media Widget” to actually take users to our individual Soc. media PAGES (FB, YouTube, Twitter etc) via our home page here: https://www.johnswildwoodpizza.com/ and thois doesn’t seem to correlate for +1 since there’s no current +1 “places” or “profile” option for businesses.

So Brian, I am asking if you intended that icon to simply house the current available +1 tag info and function as a “like” ticker? Or did you intend it to link to the site’s (eventual) +1 profile if Google rolls out an option for organizations/businesses?

    Any advice would be great.

The only functionality this button provides is to link to your profile. If you only use company “Pages” then you’ll have to wait to see if Google supports this in the future. This button is NOT used to “+1” something.

You can get your Google+ profile URL by going to View Profile in G+ and copying the URL. That is the URL you need to use.

Again, this entire widget’s ONLY purpose is to link to profiles. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for the reply. My problem is that i’m using custom sidebars, and each one needs social media. As far as i can tell, the only place you can enter in the urls is after it’s been placed in a sidebar. I was hoping there was a way to enter in universal values, so that it’d display the same info wherever once placed it.

    thanks

and now i get the google thing. thanks

Sorry… Each SMW instance needs to be filled out. There aren’t any “universal values.”
