[Plugin: Smart Archives Reloaded] How to include excerpt

If you have a lot of posts and you don’t have manual excerpts for all of them, it’s not doable.

I personally do not use the manual excerpt area on any of the posts within my network. I simply use a function to grab the post and only show the first few hundred characters while stripping out any images found.

I can see how that would be a huge strain on the server unless there is a way of caching the archive pages. With some months having 900+ posts, that would be a tremendous amount of overhead to the archives plugin though.

I’m guessing that any of the ‘good’ caching plugins out there should work just fine with smart archives though.. have not yet tested to be sure.

This plugin already caches the archives, using file-based caching.

I’m just worried that the server will reach a memory or time limit when regenerating the archives.
