• RFP seems to slow down my site in a big way. Sometimes it can take up to 10 seconds for the site to completely load. The rest of the content is already loaded, but the RFP widget and everything below that takes ages. This is not always the case, sometimes the page loads in under a second. Removing the RFP widget solves the problem.

I see the question has been asked before:

I know the FB api can be very slow, but I thought this plugin caches the posts? I checked the cache and the posts do indeed cache, although the images are still loaded from FB’s CDN.

Also, if I look at the info for the postscache file, I see that it is modified at the time that I tried opening the page. It seems that the cache is regenerated when of after I try to view the page, thus stalling the pageloading.

website in the making is here:

Is there a solution to this?

  • I have the exact same issue. Hoping for a solution since the plugin has all the features I need on my site.

    Hey all,

I’ve just updated the plugin and made some improvements to the way the last modification time of the cache file is calculated, maybe it will fix the issue for you, maybe it won’t. It’s hard to tell for me as I can’t seem to reconstruct the issue.

It could also be that your server time is off, you can contact your webhost about this to fix this.

    Thanks Danny.
I’ll update the plugin to see if it makes a difference.
Will check the server time too.

    I will let you know.
    Thanks again.

And I will do the same. Thanks a lot for your quick reply!

OK Danny, it seems to be fixed now.
I still see the occasional delay in loading of the posts, but nothing serious. I checked the page speed with pingdom tools and the images from the FB CDN are sometimes slow to load (like 306 ms for an 5KB image.) You’d expect a CDN from a giant like FB to be blazingly fast, but obviously it is not. Maybe an idea to cache the images as well?

Anyway, I am happy, I just donated $20,- for the plugin.
Thanks again for fixing this so quickly.
