[Plugin: Skype Online Status] Performance Suggestions

  • I love the plugin btw. I use it on a number of websites already.

    I was tracking performance issues on one of my sites when i realized that the skypecheck php js file is loading even when there is no Skype widget included in that page.

    What’s worse is that this is located in the header which may prevent other content on the page from loading first while it performs the skypecheck

    Is there not a way that this can be further improved? So the plugin does not have to load the skypecheck php on every single page of my site?

    Thanks for you suggestions. I will test with putting that Skype Check script in the footer and make this default in the next release. Good idea ??

    Your argument to refrain from loading the Skype Check script when it actually not needed, is also a valid one.
    However, I imagine it will be difficult to set up some sort of check by the plugin to see if there is a Skype widget defined *for that page* or if there is a Skype button included in the *current post*, before actually calling the Skype Check script… If I have some time, I will investigate the possibilities further.

    Do not hesitate to suggest solutions for this, if you know any ??
