I installed “Simple Twitter Connect” on my WordPress 3.1 entered my Twitter Consumer Key and Twitter Consumer Secret, but when I try to login to WordPress with “Sign in with Twitter” button it forwards me to a Twitter page and ask me to Deny or Allow when I hit Allow, I get a some number and I asked to go back to my WordPress an enter that code. This is where confusing part comes in… Where do I enter that code? I’ve tried at userid/password to I put my twitter’s userid as userid and that PIN as my password, that didn’t work, what am I doing wrong?

You created your Twitter Application incorrectly.

Go back to https://twitter.com/apps and fix the settings to be the ones the STC plugin told you to use in the first place.

If you have forgotten those settings, you can find them in the “Help” pulldown that is available on the upper right hand corner of the STC settings page. It gives you four specific settings that you *must* set correctly:
Application Type must be set to “Browser”.
Callback URL must be set to https://YOURWEBSITE.COM/
Default Access type must be set to “Read and Write”.
Use Twitter for login must be checked (enabled).

Ok, I changed all settings to what you just suggest. I guess sorry for not reading documentations. Now I’m getting “ERROR: Twitter user not recognized.” This is what I’ve gotten on my Facebook plugin too.

Same problem as in your other thread. Connect the Twitter account to an existing WP account.

You *cannot* log into WordPress without having a WordPress account. Period. No magic handwaving will ever change that.

so, just want to make sure i’m 100% understanding you, since I already have a local account I linked my Facebook, Twitter through my WordPress profile page, but generally speaking if a new user comes in and goes through a registration process they can loggin using their Facebook or Twitter credentials? They won’t need to create a local account and then link it same way as I did. Correct?

For Facebook, yes. For Twitter, no. Twitter doesn’t offer any way to get a valid email address for a user, so I have not made a STC-Register plugin yet.

Ok, I got it. Thank you for your help! I asked you one last question on Facebook thread.
