I am using a child theme of Twenty-eleven. Twenty-eleven is a theme where pages have no visible sidebars. After installing the Simple Page Sidebars plugin, I am able to create a sidebar in the admin and link it to a page, but on the actual page, no sidebar displays. What do I need to do for the custom sidebar to display (even though no other sidebar displays)?

    Thanks,

    -Rob

Hi Rob, Twenty Eleven has a special page template for creating pages with sidebars. When you’re editing a page, look for the “Page Attributes” meta box and the “Template” option. Choose the template called “Sidebar Template” and then you can use this plugin to create custom sidebars for individual pages.

Thanks for the quick reply! The “Main Sidebar” is now appearing on the page, but not the custom sidebar associated with the page using “Manage Sidebars” menu.

Hmm, this plugin doesn’t have a “Manage Sidebars” menu, but if you haven’t added any widgets to your custom sidebar, it will continue to display the default sidebar, so make sure you have some widgets added.

And if you haven’t chosen which default sidebar should be replaced with your custom sidebar, you need to head to “Settings->Reading” to do that, but you’ll get a message in the “Sidebar” meta box if you haven’t done that already.

Turns out that menu was left over from a plugin that didn’t work for me. I disabled it, and Simple Page Sidebars now works perfectly.

Thank you so much for your help!!!!
