The User Status widget shows the latest “status” post from whatever it’s connected to. Specifically, for the User ID that it’s connected to.

And as you noticed, a “status” post in Facebook-speak is a bit different. If you include a link or an image or anything other than a short bit of text, FB no longer considers it to be a “status”.

Think of them like Twitter posts. Short, text only. Those are “status” posts.

Thanks Otto. That clears it up. I don’t suppose the Activity Stream Widget, when Facebook makes the fixes to allow it to work again, could be filtered only to show those posts, but not show all the other activity like comments, shares, and likes, etc? Basically, I’d to post some short items straight to fan page and have them show up on my blog, i.e., the reverse of the usual flow.

Nope. Activity streams are totally different.

I looked all over and I can’t find an answer within WP, but I feel silly for asking, but what is the User ID? How do I find out my own user id? Otherwise, I love the other widgets and the ability to like directly from my Worpress post.

The User Status widget has a connect button in it. Clicking that should make it automatically fill in your user id, as well as grant the necessary permissions.

Note that it is a bit buggy. After adding the widget to the sidebar, you may need to refresh the page before the button works. I’m working on it.

Thank you. Finally figured it out. Works great now. I know the widget will show the current status (though if I have updated a link, etc on FB, the widget shows “none” under my profile pic). I like the activity and recommendation widgets, they rock! I can now blog to my heart’s delights directly within my own website, and have my friends easily link their favorite posts to their fb walls. Loving it. I completely ditched an older star-rating widget I was using before.

Is there a way to show more than just the current status? Would I be able to integrate my FB status updates into WordPress like a wall? Or better yet, post a daily digest the way TwitterTools does my tweets? Or just have a widget that displays the my last few updates in a sidebar?
