Well, then the only thing I can think of is to not use IE7.

The JS that makes the button draw comes from Facebook’s servers. If it doesn’t work in IE7 there’s nothing I can do about it.

No, it’s not. The FB buttons come from FB’s javascript. They’re not simple links.
