Plugin shows wrong header fonts

    Hi
    On this staging site the main title ‘Authentic Indian Cuisine’ is being shown in the default Helvetica font but it should be Dancing Script as it is shown in Elementor. This is the Heading font for the project. The Body font Open Sans works correctly.
    I have alos replaced the Heading font with a different one but still does not work.

    Latest versions of WP, Theme (Astra) and plugin.
    All caches cleared, CSS regenerated in Elementor.

    Deactivate plugin and Dancing Script works as before (can be seen on live site – therivercrosswarwick.co.uk)

    Your plugin works fine on all my other sites – any suggestions what could be wrong?

    Where are you loading the Dancing Script files from to render the font?

    Live (https://therivercrosswarwick.co.uk/) is ok now (I think there was a cache issue but I’ve completely removed the plugin cache now)

    The font is just coming form Google at the moment- fonts.googleapis.com

    If you remove the reference to the font files (hosted by Google) with this plugin, but don’t replace them with something else (ie. a version hosted on your own server) then the fonts won’t display.

    Fonts Plugin Pro (premium) has a local hosting feature to solve this – https://docs.fontsplugin.com/optimization/local-hosting

    I see – I think?…

    When I used this plugin on other sites they appeared to no longer use google servers and were not in Inspect Console so I assumed they were using local fonts – as it appears to work fine. But where are they stored then?

    I didnt think I needed the Premium version to do this as that was the case with the OMGF plugin -so I ditched that.

    I would need to see those websites to be able to comment on that situation. In this example, the browser has no where to look for the fonts so it’s falling back to Helvetica.

    So if the fonts are not default, I basically have to add Custom fonts so they are local and then they will be used automatically? Both Elementor and Bricks enables Custom Fonts so unfortunately I cannot see the point in adding your Premium plugin to do the same thing?…

    The browser looks for the fonts in this order:

    1, Does this font exist on the users device? (System Fonts)
    2, Does this font exist on the website server? (Locally Hosted Fonts)
    3, Does this font exist as an external resource? (Google Fonts API)

    In the case of ‘Dancing Script’ the answer to all those is no, so it can’t be displayed. #2 is the optimal way to supply the fonts in your case.

    Both Elementor and Bricks enables Custom Fonts so unfortunately I cannot see the point in adding your Premium plugin to do the same thing?…

    This isn’t a pitch for Fonts Plugin, I was simply giving you a potential solution to your problem.

    Thanks for that explanation. I understand it all now.

    Yes, I realise you were only giving me a suggestion of how to get the fonts as you didn’t know I was using Elementor & Bricks at the time. ??

    Thanks for all your help – and for writing the plugin too. It does it what says well.
