    Hi @ulfben
Any chance of double-checking this plugin is compliant with latest versions and tweaking/bumping it? Still love it and use it, but get nervous when WordFence keeps nagging me :O
    Thanks!

  • It has been bumped. ??

I still use the plugin myself on a ton of different sites so I’ll probably keep it alive for a good long time. That said; it is a fairly limited plugin – the mobile experience in particular is pretty poor nowadays. I’m not unlikely to ever have the time to invest in rewriting this so… I would start looking for another image viewer plugin that’s lightweight, fast and actually good on mobile.

Do let me know if you find any!

    Thank you

I did use WP Featherlight on a recent site when I was unsure if yours had been abandoned. To be honest I see no advantage over yours – but it is simple and it works.

Yeah, I saw Featerlight and it seemed like a decent contender! But their plugin doesn’t auto-group images in a post it seems?

Swipebox seems like a great mobile-first image viewer. I might actually spend a weekend someday soon to create a new plugin for that, and then retire WP-jQueryLightbox.

EDIT. turns out some kind soul already did the work and turned Swipebox into a plugin! It has an excellent admin panel exposing all the swipebox settings.

The only significant difference in behavior (compared to WP jQueryLightbox) is that Easy SwipeBox will put *all* images in the same gallery. It does not separate images on a post-by-post basis. That’s not a huge deal, and I don’t have to write another plugin. ??

TLDR: consider jumping ship for Easy Swipebox. It is almost certainly better maintained than my old thing.

Again thank you. Will try Easy Swipebox in my next site.

As for WP Featherlight “But their plugin doesn’t auto-group images in a post it seems?” unfortunately there is that.

Meanwhile I am in no hurry to replace WP jQuery Lightbox in all my other sites as it is still doing the job just fine for intended purposes. I do like the post-by-post basis.

Agreed. And looking closer at it, Easy Swipebox hasn’t been touched since 2016 so we seem to keep similar development velocity. ??

I open an issue on his github about the post grouping though. With any luck he’ll get to it before I do.
