It seems like about half the photos I submit to Pinterest get posted there without a description, so I have to go in and manually add the description. Although it seems to be random, I suspect there is a pattern to it (just not sure what).

I’m a heavy Pinterest user and hope that you’ll look into this.

I haven’t changed anything on my end. I just the noticed the problem in the last couple of weeks. Thanks.

@beggers can you point us to an image or two that is posting without a description?

Keep in mind that I went in and manually added descriptions to most
of my recent pins. But here are a few without descriptions:

Also, pins I’ve posted today are still missing their descriptions.

This is using your Pinterest button that appears above all my articles. Thanks.

@beggars – Thanks for your patience here! We’re still looking into this, although it looks like it may be a Pinterest issue. If you try clicking on the description of the Pin before you share (as if to edit it, but don’t make any changes), then the Pin does appear with a description. However, if you don’t click the description of the Pin, no description comes across. We’ll keep digging and let you know what we find, just wanted to give you an update! We’ll be in touch soon.

Thanks, I also noticed that if I cut & paste a new description right before I save it to Pinterest, that also works. But like you said, when I just try a normal submission the description is lost.

I contacted Pinterest but they said they don’t support 3rd party apps, so I hope you can solve this problem.

@beggers – My apologies for the delay here. We are still investigating this issue, and we’ve also reached out to Pinterest support to see if they have made any changes to their app that would be causing this problem. I greatly appreciate your patience – I should have an update on this issue soon!

While your support people are working on this they should fix this related problem too.

You’ll notice that various punctuation marks aren’t escaped out property:

Former NBA Player Jerome "Junkyard Dog" Williams Teams up with Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities for Specialized Clinic

This example came from your Pinterest icon used the first image on this page:

Even though the Pinterest submission seems to correct everything, it still doesn’t look right during the submission process which might lead some people to abort.

Also, oddly enough, subsequent pins from the same page don’t seem to have this problem.

@beggers – thanks for that link, we’ll definitely look into that behavior as well! If you have any other examples of pages or images that are displaying the same encoding issue, please pass them along, as that’ll be a huge help in helping us to determine the cause of this issue ??
