[Plugin: Shadowbox JS] Shadowbox and movies

  • My move to Shadowbox was inspired by a need to display movies without sending visitors to Youtube. I haven’t been able to get the plug-in or related files to work.

    After downloading the Shadowbox files, uploading them to my site, and inserting the script in my header.php file, I then learned that I also needed to get the Shadowbox plugin. I did this, customized it as much as I knew how to, and built a post around a movie.

    With the plugin activated, all my sidebar widgets disappeared, and the flv I was trying to play just showed up as a downloadable file rather than a movie playing in a shadowbox.

    Like a lot of people writing here, I am newer to this process and fully expect my problem to be something I overlooked. Any help is appreciated.

    You don’t *also* need to get the plugin. You only need to get the plugin.

    In addition, if you need help troubleshooting you are going to need to provide a link to a page where the issue is happening. I must be able to see the issue to troubleshoot it. if you disable the plugin, I cannot troubleshoot it.

    Also, in the settings page for the plugin, you have to enable the FLV player, and set automation for FLV to true.

    Hey Matt,

    Thanks so much for the reply. The Shadowbox site (and I paid 20 bucks for the download) makes no mention of “only” needing the free plugin, but I am trying to isolate the problem by checking against other plugins not playing nice with each other.

    I had enabled the FLV player and set the automation to true, but it was still breaking the display of sidebar widgets. I’ll get back if I still encounter the problem. I’d show a link but the site is in transition and it’s not ready for prime time yet.

    I’ve got the same problem. Shadowbox will not trigger in my sidebar, using the rel-sidebar code. It will trigger though when I add an href to one of the images in the page content?
