  • I hope that this will be fixed in the next update for SEO Ultimate, so I can reinstall this awesome help. I first installed for just one small purpose, but in the end I was using like 60% of the features.

Me ending up deleting the plugin was a sad solution, but my Facebook users are like Family to me, they deserve the best. It will be interesting to see if uninstalling it really hurts my SEO though. I manually do quite comprehensive work for SEO without the Plugin, so id there isn’rt a solution in six week, we’ll have an answer to if this Plugin REALLY does any good to SEO for ppl that are already publishing with SEO in mind.

If you don’t specify a default image under SEO > Open Graph > Default Values > Default Image, then SEO Ultimate will use the WordPress.com mShots service to generate a screenshot of your site. However, if this is the first time that WordPress.com mShots has had to generate a preview of a given webpage on your site, then it will show the “Generating Preview” image. Unfortunately this is what Facebook picks up in those cases. I’ll look into a solution, but for now, the workaround would be to specify an image under the Default Image box.

i have the same problem but the difference is that after installing the latest update i also specified a default image in Open Graph. Nevertheless, for the last 3 days it still shows me the same WordPress image when i try to post the link of my website’s home page in facebook…

MarcusVFV, if it post the default image you have chosen with any other post than the pure homepage link, you just have to wait that FB caches your Home Page’s main url again.

No, it doesn’t show the default image when i try to post any page. It is strange because i can see the link to the image when i right click and check “view page source” when i’m in the homepage. I’m also guessing it has something to do with facebook’s cache..I hope it will be fixed soon

In the latest version 7.5.7, I decided to remove the WordPress.com mShots integration due to the problems it was causing. Now Open Graph Integator won’t use a default image unless you specify one. Thanks everyone for reporting the problem. If you’ve upgraded to 7.5.7 and still see the “Generating Image” placeholders on Facebook, you’ll have to wait for Facebook to update their cache. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi guys, as said John, the facebook cache is not often updated…

I’ve found a link to clear Facebook cache : https://umairj.com/146/how-to-clear-facebook-shares-cache/

I hope this link will help some people.

Thank you isteph, that was really helpful! The 3rd method (debugger) really works!

You’re welcome Marcus! Glad that help you!

One more thing, I am wondering how time does Facebook take to update their cache? That’ll be interesting to know. Thanks

I have doubled my visitors from google this month that I have been without this plugin. It seems that I must have had some REALLY bad configurations then? But we need to keep in mind that I really make an effort to make good articles for the keyword I am after to catch and have been doing it very carefully this last month.
