[Plugin: SEO Ultimate] {excerpt::autogen} not working

  • Have just updated to the very latest version (5.4), which claims that {excerpt::autogen} will populate the Meta Description with the post’s excerpt. I have set this in the Default Formats tab, but it’s not generating anything! Not even a blank meta description tag.

    All of my posts are Custom Post Types, BTW.

    I had a similar problem, I had no meta description or keywords that I put in. I tried with a different theme and they worked so I deleted the theme I was using (mimbo) and re downloaded it. When I re downloaded it I had keywords but no description. I found this line in my head.php

    <meta name=”description” content=”<?php the_excerpt_rss(); ?>” />

    and deleted it and now the description I put in works. Hope this helps, just took me the past 5 hours to sort out.
