I’m sorry your deeplinks disappeared. I’m not sure what caused that. I tested SEO Ultimate on both WordPress 3.0 and 3.0.1 and the upgrade to 4.0 went fine (the autolinks remained), and after upgrading adding autolinks worked fine as well. There must be something specific to your configuration that’s causing issues. What versions of WordPress and PHP is your site using?

I am using php 5.2.6 and WordPress 3.01. I really like the deeplink feature, its my most used portion of the package. Rather odd that it bit the dust. I am in the process of shutting off all plugins and seeing if I can come up with anything. I will report back if I do.

Well, I spent a lot of time last night and this morning trying to get this to work, no luck. I deactivated the plugins I have installed and went through them one by one to see if there was a conflict, no luck on that either. The odd part of this is that this plugin was working properly prior to upgrading to 4.0, so obviously in that update triggered something in my WordPress setup.

I really enjoyed this plugin, however I must now uninstall and move onto something else. Perhaps in the future I will revisit this and see if it will work for me. Thanks.

I have 4.5.1 and the deeplinks section appears to work ok for posts, media and pages.

However, urls, which are the most important ( since they can be urls on one of my other sites ) this option does not work.

What does not work about it?

Add a keyword, url, title attribute and after hitting the save button, the url field entry gets blanked out and all that is left is the keyword and title attribute.

Since you say that 4.5.1 fixes this, I am going to delete the plugin entirely before adding it again.

And will report here in 5 minutes if this works.

Ok, that worked. For the first time since a prior 4.0 model this actually worked.

I am going to try to re-import from an older xml file and see if that works too.

So, perhaps the problem is that during the installation, some older file is not being overwritten. And no, i did not manually chmod any permissions of the associated folder or its contents.

Will report back as to whether after importing from the xml file if everything is still kosher.

    Thanks

I imported a previous Deeplink Juggernaut ( date ).csv file and everything looked just fine.

The deeplink csv from was created 2010-08-01 – just so that you know its age and format.

I then added one new entry using the url option, and after hitting save, the 20 or so prior records had their url field contents erased – BUT the new entry did not. It retained its information.

So, I added a second new record ( which would make about 21 records in total ) and clicked save.

This gave me an ah ha moment.
Deep juggernaut saved the entire second record and deleted the url content field from the first record that I had added about 14 minutes ago.

And of course the prior 20 records that were imported also had their blank fields re-blanked again.

I hope this helps to troubleshoot the problem, cause this deep linking to the url is one hell of a plugin feature.

    This is version 4.5.1

Thanks for taking the time to give me detailed info on the problem, Trevor. I couldn’t replicate the problem on my test servers, which made debugging difficult, but thanks to you I was able to identify the bug and release a fix in 4.5.2.

    This is great.

I upgraded to 4.5.2 and ran in and checked and it didn’t work. But no worries, I un-installed it entirely ( Yes, I see the new uninstall feature screen ) and then installed it again, then with a fresh deep juggernaut screen it worked perfectly.

I was able to create and save 3 new entries with no problems.
So, on a fresh install, no prior problems/records its just great.

Acid test, however was re-importing that same older csv file ( 2010-08-01 ) from earlier this month. But before I import, I will export today’s 3 entries.

Ok, after importing that file and trying to save an entry, all 20 of the previous url field contents still get erased. But perhaps the new program doesn’t want to recognize that old format or some data in that older format, so I am going to re-import what I just saved 10 minutes ago and see if everything is kosher …

    UHmm, another ahhhh moment.

After re-importing today’s 3 entries and trying to save another new record, it new longer works.

It has gone back to erasing the first 3 url content fields again, exactly as before. And of course it’s saving the url content field for the very last record.

So, if I use a fresh install, and never try to import earlier data, I am sure it’s all just kosher and working fine.

John, if you want the troublesome csv file or if you want admin access to that blog, just let me know – [email protected]

@trevor: Thanks for the additional info. I really appreciate your patience in helping me resolve the issue. I saved your email address if I need it, so you can go ahead and remove it from your previous post if you want (if the forum software will let you edit your post). I’ll email you if I need the CSV file or admin access.

I just released 4.5.3, which hopefully will fix this problem for good. (If WP won’t let you upgrade from the Plugins page, go to “Settings > SEO Ultimate > Upgrade” and upgrade from there.) Since I can’t replicate the problem on my websites I don’t know for sure, so if you could give it a test run for me and let me know how it goes, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for bearing with me.

Ok, not sure how to edit my former post, but about to test the plugin again now.
I will start by first doing an upgrade like most people would do, then if its still not quite 100%, then I will delete the plugin and install fresh.

    Success!

    Both phases worked.
Using it with the existing deep juggernaut list worked just fine.
I added a record and lost no data at all in the url content fields of any of the other existing records.

    Phase II
I re-imported the list of about 20 records from July 1st 2010 and after adding one record, there was no loss of data there either.

I also did a quick test on post and page options along with the attribute – they were were all working before and they all seem to be working now.
