[Plugin: Search Regex] Custom fields empty after Regex?

I imported a wordpress xml file onto a new blog. The posts contains several custom fields, like price, image urls and affiliate links.
Since the image urls for each post pointed to the old domain, I used regex to search and replace.
Problem is, when I change the url with Regex – ALL custom fields gets blanked out!!!
When I change it back to the old url, all the customfied values are back in order!
Very bizarre, and I really need some help because this is driving me nuts…
