• I have a brand new install of WP 3.8.1, with no activated plugins, and only the Askimet and Hello Dolly plugins installed. I go to search for plugins, and I get this:

Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.remarpro.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/www/whiz-labs.freehostia.com/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 77

I’ve done some searches on this error, and the most common solution seems to be adding proxy server settings to the config file. However, I am not using a proxy server, and when I use https://whatismyipaddress.com/proxy-check it says no proxy detected.

Also, on my dashboard, I get this in the place where the WordPress feeds should be:

RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Failed to connect to 66.155.40.249: Permission denied

So, something is blocking my access to the WordPress site. What can I do to fix this?
