[Plugin: Search Everything] Only works for standard POSTs – not custom post types

  • This plugin looked ideal for searching items in a Woocommerce shop. However, it does not work as expected for the custom post type, i.e. “product” that WooCommerce uses, which is a great shame.

    This plugin will fetch the taxonomies of the POST post type and do a search on terms in those taxonomies only. That is hard-coded into the plugin. It does not look at what post type is being searched on, and look at the taxonomies for that (or those) post types.

    However, as a workaround – and this seems to work – add ANY taxonomy that you want to search for terms to, to the POST post type, as well as your custom post type.

    So I have a taxonomy called “artist” that is linked to the products in the shop of post type “product”. In order to search on the artists when searching the shop rpoducts, I need to link that same taxonomy to the “post” post type. That seem works for me, and hopefully it will be helpful to others.
