    iv been trying to do this for ever and i can figure it out cause theres way to many options ?? and its just overloading me.

    i want users with the role of Subscriber, default, to be able to create posts. but i only want them to be able and post to one, specific category.

    how can i do this?

    im also using Members plugin from justin tadlock as a role editor

    thanks!

    Start with a standard Subscriber role definition. In Members, that role should show as having the read capability and nothing else.

    Then go to Roles > Categories and:

    1. Tick the checkbox for your desired user
    2. Scroll down to the desired category (scroll link available up top)
    3. Tick the Post Author checkbox for the category
    4. Scroll back up top and click the Update button

    That’s all. Just don’t assign any other Roles or Restrictions that would confuse the issue.

    @kevin!

    Is it possible to do the same if we are intended to let a particular group or custom role publish in a particular post type, instead of a user?

    Yes, supplemental roles can be assigned to a user or group. WP roles can be treated as a group for the purpose of supplemental role assignments.

    @kevinb I tried this with one category and the contributor role just as you described for the subscriber role. This is not working. Any idea?
