[Plugin: Robots Meta] Need some advice on indexing
-
I do have noindex on categories, tags, search results, author, and date based archives and also RSS comment feeds.
I would like to know if that’s too strict and would harm the indexing for my blog.
I do have a sitemap.xml for search engines to let them know of all the posts and several Pages like about and the sitemap for humans. I have excluded all archives from the sitemap.xml for search engines. I’m using XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress.
It would be nice if you could give me advice if I should change the sitemap for humans to something else than index, follow, maybe index, nofollow would be more appropriate or perhaps something else more restrictive?
On other thing, I don’t like when I see my index page2, page3 and so on in search results for my blog as it appears to be meaningless don’t you think? Would Prevent indexing of subpages of the homepage help in this matter or is it just ok to have it like it is, unchecked?
I had some hope that by restricting all archives to noindex it would help as I do have a sitemap.xml as I mentioned above with all my posts and some Pages.
All opinions and advices are welcomed please.
