Hi Team,

While sharing the site or any of the links of the website on any social media or chat, the OG image is not showing up anywhere.

We check with the code and tried debugging, the script and code is rendered on the page with proper image path, but still the image is not displayed while sharing.

We tried to deactivate all the Autoptimize plugin, and the image works fine, but when we activate the plugin back the image does not show up.

Can you please suggest a solution to this at the earliest.

First and foremost try to identify what is breaking things by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). Based on that we can see what the next steps need to be ??

compare the HTML output for the OG link tag with and without AO active, how do those differ?

Without AO the HTML is uncompressed/unminfied, and with AO the output is compressed/minfied

well, as the problem is also there when CSS/ JS & HTML optimization are off, the problem is not the minification as such. so when those are off, specifically for the <meta property="og:image" tag, what is different? and what does https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ say?

Facebook debug information: it says Response 418

No difference in syntax or tag except it is minified/compressed.

What can we do to fix this?

weird … does this also happen when you try https://blog.futtta.be/2022/05/05/what-to-do-when-autoptimize-breaks-your-site/ in the debugger (I don’t have a FB account so I can’t test)?

And can you make a screenshot of the FB debugger output on your site without AO on so I can compare?

We have tried all the possible combinations but nothing worked.

well, based on the above FB debugger output the 418 error and the missing image are also happening when AO is off? :-/
