Plugin restriction question

  • Hello people,

    we just developed a wordpress plugin that puts a link to users website and sends all new posts to our service. This is necessary to become a member on our website (www.yousaytoo.com), the question is: will it violates the werdpress restriction #4?

    The plugin must not embed external links on the public site (like a “powered by” link) without explicitly asking the user’s permission.

    It’s written on our website and also will be written in description on www.remarpro.com plugin directory what our plugin will do, or we need to warn the user when he activates the plugin?

    I am neither a lawyer nor do I work for WordPress but…

    Unless there’s an API requirement to do so, yes, it violates the WP Plugin TOS. You can do it, but you cannot host your plugin HERE if you do that.

    If it JUST sent posts to your service, and that was patently clear on the readme (all posts will be sent to …) then you MIGHT be okay. But the links on the front end of the user’s sites is a show stopper. You can’t do that unless you let them opt IN to having that.
