• Right now I’m working with WordPress to make a video portfolio for a friend of works he’s done in the past in the field of video shoots. At the moment I’m using custom styles and a little but more than avarage kind of coding in the backend when I’m uploading new videos, but I was wondering if there would be a plugin, or someone who wants to help me make one, to automatically have the layout set whenever I’m uploading a new video.
At the moment my layout looks like the image I have linked here.

What I’m trying to find is that I can just upload a video, enter the title, Director (can be made a custom field or a dropdown list where you can select your field), short description, and add two links to view the movie in Small and Large size. When the video is uploaded it can also be put in a category (only one can be selected). On the eventual Portfolio page the categories will be shown as on the screenshot. For example “Features” or “Short films”.
I have also added a function (thanks to Apple) to open the video in a javascript popup window (screenshot). So every time I’m gonna upload a video and add a link to that video in my post the following code is automatically added at the end of the link ?width=640&height=424 (relative to the size of the video the numbers may change).

The “video popup” could also be another plugin on its on, but for this function I want this zoom function to be included with this “Video Portfolio” plugin.

This should be a plugin that can be put onto a page of its own. I hope someone could help me out finding or making such a plugin. I’m sure it’s not even that hard to do.

  • I am trying to do something very similar for my client so as to allow them to easily update their portfolio without having to contact me all the time. Did you figure out any solutions?

I have done a lot of research into different video solutions, but none that create a gallery like are plug-ins out there for still images. My clients are video people so they can compress for web themselves, but it would be nice to have a plug-in that just moves the file to a specified folder on the server and links to it within a gallery so the client doesnt have to mess with an ftp site.
