Plugin Request Pretty Easy Would Help Me A Lot

  • Unfortunately I lost my old website and all my visitors have no idea about my new site. If there could be a plugin that could take all 16,000 comments I have (from my backup file) and convert them into email subscribers, so I could email them, thatd be AMAZING.

    Is this possible? Anyone willing to help?

  • Your backup file = the XML export?

    If so you can just open the XML in Excel and it should have an author email field. Just copy all the emails.

    I tested and it worked with Excel 2007. So it should be ok ??

    I tried opening it with Excel. It asked if I wanted to open it 3 different ways. I tried them all and it said ‘Failed’

    Hmm 1 tried the first option and it worked. Maybe because the WP versions. I tested with a fresh export from WP 3.0

    Maybe try searching for software to convert XML to CSV or XLS or something else.

    phpMyAdmin, available on most web hosts or installable on a localhost server will export to CSV.

    Or you can install that backup file. Then do an export from phpmyadmin of just the author email field.

    Got it. But Gmail only allowed me to email like 25 people, then said it failed all the emails, then said I was barred from emailing temporarily. I think it thinks Im spamming or something
