    do u have 0.2 ?
    Plugin Release Tracker says:
Fancy Categories 0.1 (i have ) 0.2 ( last release ) Versions Mismatch, Make sure your version is latest!

I don’t have 0.2, I’m afraid. Here is a link to a Chinese site that claims to have a WP 2.3 compatible version. I hope this helps.

I anyone finds a 0.2 version, let me know and I’ll stick a copy of the zip in a more permanent place.

    -John.

That Chinese site just links to the one that was mentioned in this thread already, the 0.1 version.

Before WP 2.3, I was using WP-dTree. Now, that plugin doesn’t work with the new hierarchy. Neither do any of the others I’ve seen, except for that fancy categories one. Still, I wished it allowed for post titles under the subcategories, as well as expandable/collapsible archives.

I’ve seen about a dozen threads asking for these features. I’m surprised that someone hasn’t developed a plugin for them by now.

I found one for archives by the same author here:

    https://www.wp-plugins-db.org/plugin/fancy-archives/

Yeah, the Chinese article links to the 0.1 versions, but I thought it also gave instructions for updating it to work with WP2.3. If not, my bad. Maybe I’ll take all these ideas and add a new spin on fancy categories to my plugin writing queue.

    i tried :

    Plugin Name: Cimy Navigator

Description: Display header and/or sidebar menu with pages or categories list.
    Author: Marco Cimmino
    Version: 0.4.1

i managed to get my “archive” compressed. but i a strange way.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for doing that.

One thing I noticed about that category plugin is that it only displays a single post’s content. It won’t display the contents of all posts under a category when the category is selected. I don’t know if it was like that with this plugin for previous versions of WP, but it is for 2.3.

Also, it only displays five post titles for each category, not all the titles under that category. Ideally, it should show all the post titles in that category, and ONLY that category (in addition to the aforementioned post contents of all posts under that category, as the default does). What I mean is that if there are child categories under the parent, with the parent having no posts assigned solely to it, then no post titles should be displayed when the parent category is selected. They should only appear on the child category, or at the end of the hierarchy tree.

For example, let’s say we have a grandparent, parent, and child category named “Literature”, “Books”, and “Non-fiction”, respectively. “Literature” and “Books” have posts under them that are also under additional child categories, and “Non-fiction” has posts solely assigned to it. When “Literature” is selected, no post titles are displayed in the list, and all posts under that category and its children are displayed in the index. The same would apply for “Books”. However, when “Non-fiction” is selected, all post titles are displayed in the list, as well as the posts under it displayed in the index.

I wish someone in-the-know would “fix” this plugin to do those things with the category list. Otherwise, the expandable-collapsible aspect of it works great.

It’s not a plugin, but I found a better solution here.

    nice one. tkz pezastic
    but i love WP-dTree xD

    i use 2.2.3 and work perfect…

Yes, I used to use that plugin and was disappointed when it didn’t work with WP 2.3. However, I now see that someone modified it to work. It’s currently WP-dTree 3.3.
