More specifically, check out the following two to see with and without the issue…

A little digging shows the issue has something to do with where the doc-type is being specified when Relevanssi creates custom search results snippets of pages with a Mappress map on them. It’s an HTML 5 based doc-type and apparently that’s not defined at the top of the page properly when Mappress is enabled. Instead, all the Mappress scripting is thrown to the top and it’s freaking IE out.

Turning off “Create custom search results snippets” did stop the error from happening, but greatly reduces the quality of the search excerpts too… so I’d like to leave it on if we can fix the underlying incompatibility.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks!

Relevanssi triggers something in the MapPress when building excerpts and that is messing up the layout. I’d place the blame on MapPress, but that’s just me =)
