I am not sure I quite understand… so I can track registration codes, but how do invitations to register get sent? Are they done so by a different plugin? I’m not seeing a widget with this plugin that allows for invitations to be sent.

I really want to be able to invite people to register.
    Thanks.

cynthiablue, hm, the invitation system isn’t extremely useful, as is.

One implementation I saw was for a local church. They didn’t want to moderate who could, or couldn’t join their website, but they didn’t want random people joining either. So, they published an invite code in their newsletter and effectively locked people out from the joining the site that weren’t in the know.

Another interesting implementation was used by a school teacher, she set up different invite codes for different classes she taught so she could keep track of where different users came from. Again, she required a code to register.

Regardless, the invite codes don’t really promote your site, they control who gets in, or at the very least, how they got there, if used properly.

If there’s something specific I can help you with, let me know.

Ah okay thanks that makes sense. ??

I’m looking for a plugin where I can send out email invitations to people to come register. I haven’t found anything that I like, or anything that works. I want registrations to remain open, and also be able to invite people to register.

    Hi radiok,
I also don’t want random registration so I am looking for a registration plugin which contain Invitation code. I’d just add your plugin and want to ask if the invitation code (which manually added) had limit quantity? Or it can be added unlimitedly? As I may need so many invite codes.

Also, can the codes be imported csv file or pasted at the same time rather than input the codes one by one?

cylcathy, I don’t see why there would be any limit on the number, or length, of invitation codes. I’m sure there’s some system limit, like 131072 characters or something, I’m not sure, but I can’t imagine anyone with codes that long, I imagine the same limitation might apply to how many codes can exist, but again when you say you have many I doubt you mean that many!

As for importing your codes, eh, it’s doable from two perspectives, you could hard import them into the backend database (if you could pull off a little SQL) or something could be written to import them, but I’m not sure I have the time right now to write something like that. Not to be crass but if you were to donate I could take the time to write it, but otherwise I’m working on WordPress MU and MS support which takes precedence over such a narrow feature. I hope you understand. If you are comfortable with SQL I can assist you in writing something much quicker and easier than I can write code.

    radiok,

Haha, thanks to your response! Sorry for my poor English. “Many codes” means how many codes to exist. As sometimes I may need to invite a group of people (say maybe over one hundred) so just want to know if your plugin have this limitation.

I think your plugin is great! I understand invitation code may not be your priority. I am not very good at SQL but sometimes will edit the command by searching the forum. It’s great if you can assist me on that! (In case that it is not so disturbing to you). Thanks very much for your quick response!
