What version of the plugin are you using?

    Version 2.2.2 on WP 3.0.3

Same issue here across a large number of my clients’ sites. I found this issue a week ago and have been trying to contact the developer since to no avail. I recommend turning the plugin off and using .htaccess redirects instead.

Stefan, I’m the developer and you have not tried contacting me.

Derek, the other thread is for an older version of the plugin and a known problem with WP 3.0. As far as I’m aware the problem was fixed. You should find a redirection created in the ‘groups’, ‘modified posts’ group which can be deleted. If you can narrow down the conditions that cause the redirection to be created then that will be very helpful. What are your exact settings on the Reading options

Was this problem fixed. I had the same issue with 2.2.2 and WP 3.0.3. I see an update today and wondering if this was taken care of ?

Also this happened to my site without any static page as home page.

I have had this problem and found that it only happens to me when (after fixing it) I make a new post that has “No Related Posts” because I use the related post plugin.

Not sure if this is happening to anyone else though. For me this happened when one of both of these plugins updated recently. ( A week or so ago)

Ditto but this is happening on one of our development sites. Published a post, it then showed up in the Modified Posts groups.

    For what it’s worth…

Running WordPress 3.0.3 with Multisite using directories not subdomains.

Reading sections are default (I think)
Front Page Displays: Your Latest Posts
Blog pages show at most: 10 posts
Syndication feeds show the most recent: 10 items
    blah blah blah…

I just ran into this problem as well. WP 3.0.3 with Redirection 2.2.3. After creating a new post Redirection created a redirect for the the blog’s home page pointing to the new post.

I don’t readily follow that, but as I’m traveling now for the holidays, I won’t have time for a few weeks to delve into it. Maybe another poster here can? Otherwise, I’ll tackle it shortly after the new year.

I did see the upgrade to Redirection 2.2.3 and installed it, but have not activated and tested it. But it sounds like windracer is having problems with that upgrade still.

    derek

I’m having the same problem. I can’t trace it to a particular action or set of circumstances; it’s happened with a page as well as with a custom content type post.

You should find a redirection created in the ‘groups’, ‘modified posts’ group which can be deleted.

Ah. That was what caused it on my page. An unwanted redirect for ‘/’ to the new subpage I had created. wonder what caused that to happen all of a sudden?

I’m having the same issue, started around the same time as the 3.04 fix came out. I can delete the redirect, but do we know what’s causing this, and if so, what’s the fix/workaround?

I had a similar thing happen a few months ago on pages, not posts, but that seemed to fix itself.

I just started having this problem w/ a client’s site, and was able to fix it by modifying the plugin as detailed here:

    https://urbangiraffe.com/support/topic/home-page-is-redirecting-to-another-wp-page-without-my-instruction-to-do-so#post-4066

Works just fine now. I hope this helps someone!

Hi all, I’ve got Redirection 2.2.3 installed, but without testing it myself, just given the number of errors reported below, I’m going to wait to start using it.

In the meantime, I’m using Simple 301 Redirects plugin now as a stand-in until this is repaired. (https://www.scottnelle.com/simple-301-redirects-plugin-for-wordpress/)

Please paste here if you’ve discovered a fix or that it is now working. I don’t want to do any hard coding for this though, just want it to work.
