[Plugin: RealShoutSearch] Quirky with a few bugs

  • The plugin is an excellent idea and with a few improvements it could be fantastic. However, there a few issues I feel I should bring up in hopes that the creator of the plugin will try and fix those. First, the “mywidget” that is included with the plugin should have a feature that limits the number of cities it shows in the sidebar. Since I configured the plugin to display all 50 states and the major cities in those states, it displays well over 150 cities. This presents problems by skewing the length of the sidebar, thus resulting in an awkward look to the website. In addition, an option to display the advanced search form by default, instead of the long list of cities, would also be a huge improvement.

    Next, the search drop down should be adjusted so that when picking a state then a city, only the cities for that state should appear, not every city in the entire country. This causes serious confusion to someone wanting to narrow their search down to a particular city and then needing to look through a huge list of cities that are not even within that state.

    Other than the issues mentioned above, the plugin is an excellent idea and could be great with just a few adjustments.

    I’ve tried numerous times and followed the instructions to the letter and cannot get this to work for the UK.
