[Plugin: Really Simple CAPTCHA] Image not showing up

Have you modified .htaccess file in the top directory of WordPress? I guess it has wrong rewrite rules matching URL of CAPTCHA images. Try recreating .htaccess file if possible.

My .htaccess file is not in the root folder, it is in public. Could that be the problem? Also, the permissions are r&w for the owner but only r for group and others.

Sorry I’m not good with the server management, I’m a little new to this whole thing.

What is the WordPress permalink setting in Settings > Permalinks?

/%category%/%postname%/

Should it be default?

What web server do you use? IIS? If not, you should have .htaccess in the root folder of WordPress. Have you removed it manually?

it is hosted through windstream communications via windstream hosting services. I’m not sure how they run their web server but my .htaccess is in the public folder, I will move it to the root and see if it alters anything.

If you are not sure about the server, you should ask for support from the hosting service company.

Okay, I will make that call. What exactly needs to be in order on the hosting side to work with your plugins?

I have a similar problem. Moved a WordPress site from a sub-directory into the root folder. In Firefox I don’t see the captcha image and in IE I get the red x.
I deleted the plugin and re-installed but still not seeing the captcha. This site is on a secure server so I don’t know if that’s affecting it, but I could see the captcha image before when it was in a sub-folder.

I have same problem with really simple captcha. I am using wordpress Version 3.5.2, Really Simple CAPTCHA Version 1.6 and Gravity Forms Version 1.7.6.

On local server it is working fine but on live server the captcha image is not displaying.

WordPress is installed in a sub-folder on server.

I have re-installed the Really Simple CAPTCHA and also installed lower Version of Really Simple CAPTCHA i.e. Really Simple CAPTCHA Version 1.4, modified the .htaccess file in upload folder but no luck.

The GD and freetype are there and permission is also 775 for upload folder but not displaying the captcha image. It is redirecting to 404 page when I open the broken image’s URL i.e. the image is not on the server. When i check the upload folder the images are continuously generating either i submit the form or not.

Please help me.
