• Hi there,

I’m pretty new to WordPress, but I’m trying to set up a blog that aggregates several different “a photo a day” sites from physics classes across the country, as a resource for other physics teachers (I’m also a physics teacher…). It’s just in the preliminary phases, but you can check out my attempt here: https://pterodactyl.info/aggregator/

I got the syndication working fine using the plugin FeedWordPress, but I’m also trying to use Rating Widget to allow visitors to the site to “rate” the aggregated posts, to generate a “top ten” page of the most popular posts. Rating Widget is working well, but only for the posts that originate on the home blog itself, not for posts that come in through the RSS feed.

I guess there is a fundamental difference between syndicated posts from the RSS feed and original posts that’s tripping up Ratings Widget, but I don’t know what this difference is, so I can’t make any headway trying to correct it. I realize that this could just be an issue of compatibility between the two plugins, but I’ve tried multiple ratings plugins and they all perform similarly. Ratings Widget would be my preferred ratings method, but I’m not planning for this blog to have any original content at all, so I’m hoping that you all can help me!

    Thanks for your help!!

    Joe

One puzzling update – when I search the site, the search results include ratings on posts that originated with the RSS feed. That is, these posts don’t have a rating capability on the main page, but the rating capability appears when I get to the rating through a search! Odd…

By the way, does anyone know off-hand where Ratings Widget stores the vote tally data? It doesn’t seem to be creating its own database, but I can’t find the data anywhere.

    Thanks.
