One question the search button is it able to sit along the side like this site?

The only way to make it show the search results without a map is by hiding the map with CSS at the moment. There are two default templates, and the second one will show the results below the map.

You can change the search results templates with this filter ( to for example include icons ), and add custom content to the returned search results.

The search button can be positioned ( and styled ) next to the input field in the search widget with CSS.
