• First let me say this is an awesome plugin!! Thank you for contributing it ??

I am having one problem in that the dashboard widgets are not updating to the correct status – both in my admin dashboard and my editor’s dashboard.

The task tracking page where I have the shortcode to display tasks is updating perfectly.

Can you guide me on how to fix the dashboard widget please??

    Thank you!!

If you have other plugins installed, try temporarily disabling them. It sounds like there is a JavaScript conflict.

    Hi John,
I went through disabling the other plugins this weekend and there was no change to the Propel widgets status of the tasks.

What is happening in the Propel dashboard widgets – when I have marked tasks as “complete” they do not show as completed, but instead once their date of completion occurs they then display as “past due” – even though I’ve marked them “completed”.

Perhaps I’ve misunderstood – and the intention is that when a task is completed it should be removed from the task list??

I had hoped that the tasks would display in the dashboard widget in the same manner they do on the page with the shortcode displaying them, showing the percentage of completion.

None the less, in all other aspects this plugin works very well.

    Thank you for your reply!

Oh, I see what you mean. That does appear to be a bug. A temporary fix is quite easy. In your admin panel, under the Propel menu, click the Settings link. In there, choose the theme you’d like (the default is smoothness). That should fix the issue (and you should see the progress bar in the dashboard widget when you move your mouse over a task). The tasks will still show up as “past due” despite them being marked as complete. This is something I should probably fix in the next update.

However, so you don’t get confused, you can hide the completed tasks in the dashboard widget. In the dashboard, if you move your mouse over the grey area above widget (as if you were going to drag it to move it), in the upper right corner of the widget will appear a configuration link. Click that, and in there is a setting to hide completed tasks.

    Hope that helps.

Actually, it appears there is a bug with that too. I will push out an update toward the end of this week that should fix these bugs.

I realize the original purpose of this plugin is for collaboration projects, but instead I am using it for training purposes.

I have a password protected page set up for the business executive officer so that he can monitor the training and progression of work by his IT Dept Mgr (the person I’m training on WP for their new business site).

So I don’t actually want to remove the tasks from the dashboard. I’d rather they show as “completed” for the person I’m training – I see this (if it worked properly marking “completed”) as a good motivator to the person being trained.

Even though I’ve explained to him it is not working properly and I am in fact marking his tasks completed as gets them done, and he understands this… each time we get on the phone to train and he logs into his editor dashboard he remarks about those tasks being completed and jokes that they say “past due” instead… almost seems to take a bit of the wind out of his sails.

Hopefully this makes better sense for you in regards to how I’ve chosen to utilize your plugin.

As I’ve said though – regardless of this glitch it is working out very well as a training and project task list. If you can work out the glitch that’d be great ?? if not, then that’s ok too.

It is an awesome plugin and I’m glad I found it. I can think of other scenarios (not necessarily “collaboration” based) that this would work very well for too.

Thanks for your prompt and friendly replies!! You ROCK!!

Nudge nudge… any luck with this update yet??

Not trying to bug you – just noticed it had been a while. I do understand you’re probably quite busy, but just wanted to give you a friendly nudge.

    Thanks,

Yes! I just committed the changes to the WordPress repository. It will probably take an hour for WordPress to realize there is an update and show it in your dashboard. The newest version is 1.5.7 – once you are on that version, let me know how it works.

This is perfect!! The person I’m training loves it – he says he feels so much better seeing all of those red/past dues gone and replaced with blue “completed”. — funny how things play so strongly into our psyche isn’t it ??

There is only one minor problem – I dug through the plugin files trying to fix it but have yet to find the right style control to accomplish it — in IE7 (I don’t know if it’s same in IE8) on the dashboard widget the task title is too far left and sits on top of the status buttons. — It displays perfectly in Firefox.

Here is a screenshot of it in IE7 for you to see what it looks like:

Can you tell me where I can correct that please?

Otherwise this is awesome – thank you!!
